This is part of the process of making an embryo. After retrieving the oocytes, they are then placed in a maturation media. All the oocytes that mature are then injected with a single sperm cell. They are then monitored to see which ones develop into a blastocyst, or embryo. The goal of this procedure is to get as many embryos as possible.
This is what can set ICSI apart from other reproductive services. There is the possibility of getting multiple embryos, and embryos during the time of year previously thought to be impossible.
